Students come to school dressed in Hawaiian clothing for Moana’s Tropical Thursday, Oct. 4. Both elementary and high school participate in anticipation for tomorrow nights 34th annual homecoming game against Frasier Mountain, Oct. 5.
By 9:35, the Student Ministries Center (SMC) was chock full of parents, teachers, administrators and students for the annual Royal Battle. The competition was fierce, but the senior girls came out at the victors by one vote. Shauna Howard, ’20, shares why the royal battle is such an anticipated part of the homecoming experience.
“The Royal Battle is a great way to get students excited about homecoming and the king and queen candidates,” Howard said. “It’s fun to see our friends and classmates performing on the stage.”
At lunch, princess candidates play Kajabi Can Can during the fourth princess pageant of the week. Lindsay Weimer, ‘20, Rylee Schwab, ‘21, and Makayla Davila, ‘22, all won their class competition and moved on to play each other in a final round. Schwab tells how it felt to make it to the final round of the game.
“It felt really good to be in the final round of Kajabi,” Schwab said, “because I was able to play with my friends and it was a really fun competition.”
Tomorrow will be the last day to dress up and earn points. Wear your school spirit to gain points for your class! Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. with the game starting at 7 p.m. Head over to the concession stands at 6 p.m. to buy a full taco dinner and grab a seat by 6:30 p.m. to see the homecoming court announced.
