Zoology students regenerate flatworms, Oct. 31.

Science teacher, Karen Walters, leads the class in this experiment, to discover the secrets behind the worm’s supernatural ability.

When cut in half, the flatworms will grow their body back. This is known as Platyhelminthes regeneration.

Walters leads the class in the lab, after teaching about different types of worms, and their characteristics over the past few weeks, in preparation for this dissection.

Students will keep a watchful eye on the parts they cut off throughout the week to see the change in stem cells. The body is supposed to grow back, to be just as it was.
