Both boys and girls basketball start up official basketball practice this week, Nov. 5-9.
With summer games, practices and tournaments, players take a break in the fall to play other sports, rest or condition before the winter season of basketball.
For girls basketball, returning head coach Robert Foshee and assistant coach Mike Zamarripa train the team with ball handeling drills and conditioning to equip the girls for an upcoming tournament, Nov. 17.
Varsity boys basketball also have a returning head coach, Jon Penberthy and assistant coaches Mike Neal and Jason Saelzler. JV boys basketball are led by brothers and former alumnus Caleb Nale, ’14, and Cole Nale, ’15.
Boys basketball face their first scrimmage of the season at home, Nov. 17, and their first game and also takes place at home against Firebaugh, Nov. 27. Girls also play at home, Nov. 27.
This year, girls basketball start up a JV team after only a varsity team for four years. A total of 13 girls play basketball with no set number for each team yet.
