Students apply for college with help of counselors
On Nov. 13 in room 508 in building 5 from 3rd to 5th period there will be a CSU application workshop for any seniors interested in applying for or getting assistance from a CSU rep about what college they want to attend.
Students will be able to have assistants from admissions rep from the CSU system. They will help the seniors with making sure their applications are free of any errors and to answer any questions the seniors might have.
The CSU application workshop is open to any student interested in applying to a CSU within California. The workshop is not open to students interested in just Fresno State, but also includes San Diego State, San Jose and other CSU schools.
Academic advisor, Evangelina Tello, loves working with students and enjoys assisting them in looking for the right college for them. Tello explains the benefit of the workshop for seniors.
“The benefit is for our seniors,” Tello said, “who are interested in a foreign university, such as a state school or any CSU in California to get their questions answered and to have guidance through the application process.”
Senior, Amanda Grimmius, hopes to attend either Fresno State or Grand Canyon University to pursue an education in nursing. Grimmius explains what she hopes to achieve at the CSU workshop.
“I’m hoping to get some peace of mind in knowing that I’ve filled out the application correctly,” Grimmius said, “so I can relax and get it off my plate.”

Kayla Fermanian, ’19, plans to attend Fresno State or Long Beach State and major in business as well as minor in pre-law and eventually get into law school.
“I hope to get a better view on what colleges are available and hopefully get help in with applying to colleges,” Fermanian said, “because it’s a lot of work and it’s really stressful right now. I recommend going to the CSU application workshop, because it’s really helpful and the teachers are there to help, and it’s free so it is something to take advantage of.”
For any student interested in Fresno State or a CSU, Fresno State is going to be hosting an application workshop on their campus. The event will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17 in the Ag Sciences department in room 101.
