Members of Fresno Christian’s Cantiamo and girls Bellezza Ensemble sing at Clovis Community Medical Center’s 6th annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, Nov. 27.
This event provides the opportunity for staff to bring their families and enjoy an evening of merriment.
Michelle Serrato, Director of Patient Experience, has been working at Clovis Community Medical Centers for 11 years. Serrato shares why putting on the Tree Lighting Ceremony is important to her.
“Our employees are extremely dedicated to providing excellent care and service to our patients and families,” Serrato said. “Events like our Tree Lighting Ceremony is just one of the ways that we can thank them for all that they do!”
Alongside music provided by members of FC Cantiamo and Ensemble, refreshments such as Christmas cookies and hot chocolate were served to guests. Families could take photos with Santa Claus or watch Christmas movies such as ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas!’ or ‘Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town’.
With 300 people in attendance, campus choir had the opportunity to prepare for their upcoming Christmas concert, ‘Lessons and Carols’.
High School Choir director of five years, Susan Ainley, explains her excitement for the upcomng Christmas concert.
“I am so excited to hear all the songs we are singing in order,” Ainley said. “Last night helped to prepare the choir for Monday and it was very Christmas-y and special for everyone. We got lots of applause and smiles, even though it was supposed to be backgorund music. I was very proud of this smaller group handling all the vocal parts so well.”
Some of the songs performed included, ‘All on a Silent Night’ and ‘O Come O Come Emmanuel’.
Freshman Max Hinton shares why singing at this event was important to him.
“My favorite part about singing at the Christmas Tree lighting,” Hinton said. “Was performing songs that had spiritual connections in them and being a light in a Christmas that gets so commercialized as it does today. I really think singing at the lighting helped us a lot as it gave us a chance to perform in front of a crowd to prepare ourselves and calm our nerves a little bit for the performance. I think it would be a great idea to do it again, I think people liked it and it was a fun opportunity to get to sing together.”
If you missed out on the choirs performance at Clovis Community, their Christmas concert will be held, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m. in the Peoples Church main auditorium.

Great pictures-I’m so glad we got a photo-op with Santa! It really was fun to sing for this community event; hopefully they will ask us again!
