With the fall season wrapped up, winter sports take over. Both soccer and basketball have begun their season with new teams and new captains.

Heading up the boys varsity basketball team is Sukhman (Suky) Cheema,’19, as well as new captain, Brandon Brogan,’19. Girls basketball has returning captains, with Macie Thompson,’19, Alina Davila,’19, and Ashley Zamarripa,’19, once again leading the team, as well as first year captain, Hannah Villines,’21.

Soccer starts the season with almost all new captains, Annabelle Messer,’20, Avery Jones,’20, and, Rylee Schwab,’21 accelerate the girls team to victory. Jacob Scully,’19, and Jacob Hyatt,’21 begin their first season as captains, with only Alexander(Alex) Rurik,’19 returning as a captain.

To begin their season, girls soccer wins their first home game against Sierra, 5-0, with Rylee Schwab scoring four out of the five goals, while boys also bring home a win from their away game at Sierra, with a final score of 4-2.

Boys basketball loses their first game to Firebaugh, 67-53, with the girls also narrowly being defeated by Orange Cove, with a final score of 31-28.
