Varsity girls basketball are defeated by Coalinga High School, 66- 34, at their first non-league home game, Nov. 4.
This year, the team enters the season with more seniors than usual. Out of 13 girls, six seniors, two sophomores and five freshmen make up the team.
They currently tie for wins and losses in their record for preseason, 2-2.
Fourth year varsity player and captain, senior Ashley Zamarripa, shares her expectations of the basketball season and looks forward to growing stronger as a team.
“This year I am expecting our team to get to know each other and work hard as a new team,” Zamarripa said. “This season I am looking forward to finishing out my last year with my team and enjoying the game of basketball. My goal for this year is to play my hardest since it’s my last year. I believe I can help my team with plays they don’t understand and help them as much as I can on the court.”
Next, the players participate in the Chowchilla neutral tournament. They will play against Chowchilla High School at 8 p.m., Dec. 6, and continue to play, Dec. 7-8, based off the turn out of the game.
They also play in the Kerman Neutral tournament next weekend with times to be determined, Dec. 13-15.
Head out and cheer on your lady Eagles during the next few tournament-filled weeks!
