Worship team guitarist Derek DeGroot, ‘22, shares his devotional on “Knowing God by Serving Him” during the Fresno Christian high school worships team’s new student led devotional unit, Jan. 18.
In this unit, students create a devotional on a subject of their choice. At the end of the week, two students are assigned to the corresponding date to share their devotion with the class.
With weekly student lead devotionals, the class has the opportunity to stretch their knowledge of God. It is also a way for students to practice Fresno Christian’s motto of “Seek Truth, Speak Life, and Serve Others.”
Senior Macie Thompson, vocalist on the worship team, appreciates hearing what encouragement her fellow classmates have to share at weekly devotions.
“I love that in worship team we get to share and create devotionals to present to our class,” Thompson said. “I think that when we talk and listen to our peers and hear what they have to say about the Lord and show us what they have been learning and growing in, it encourages us to do the same. I love being in worship team because it has allowed me to deepen my faith and allow God to use me to do His amazing will!”
