As the AP test season approaches students in Advanced Placement European History prepare by taking a full practice test, lasting over 3 hours, Jan. 31.
High school students around the world take AP courses to educate and prepare themselves for college.
There are 38 total AP classes offered around the world for students with different interests. Along with taking the courses, students must take and pass a cumulative test at the end of the school year if they hope to receive college credit.
For the 2018 AP Euro test, over 80,000 students worldwide took the test with 57% passing. AP teacher Kori Friesen gives the practice test so that students can have a better understanding of test format and go into test day with confidence having already been exposed to the test.
Nicole Wagoner, ’20, currently enrolled in AP Biology encourages students to join AP classes
“I enrolled for the college credit and to get a deeper understanding of biology for future career paths,” Wagoner said. “My favorite part about this class is making study guides and teaching yourself subjects that you can’t go into depth about in the actual class. I would tell people to take these classes even though it is difficult but you leave the class satisfied with yourself and all that you’ve learned.”
Fresno Christian currently offers four AP courses per school year, this year the classes offered are AP Calculus, AP Biology, AP European History, and AP English Language, with 52 students enrolled in these classes. The 2019-20 AP class options will be announced this spring.
