Video journalist Ethan Hamm, ’20, ventures through the campuses of Fresno Christian and Fresno State asking students of all ages the question, ‘Do you know the five freedoms of the First Amendment?’
Since December 15, 1791, when the U.S. adopted the Bill of Rights, the First Amendment has protected free speech along with press, religion and other unalienable rights. Throughout the history of the United States, this amendment remains essential to the U.S.’ democracy and creates an environment where Americans are able to share their opinions freely.
With the five freedoms being speech, religion, press, and the right to assemble and petition, the question is also asked, ‘if these rights are still significant in today’s age.’ To elaborate more on the topic, Sam Cross, ’19.
” The freedom of religion is specific to me, because as a Christian and being able to practice my religion freely is amazing, being able to respect religions that you don’t understand is really great. All the freedoms are relevant to modern America”
The following video features video journalist Ethan Hamm, ’20, asking various students about their knowledge of the First Amendment rights and freedoms.
