The Feather video journalism team presents a short film covering the pressures and challenges facing teenagers today, ‘Choices.’
The film tackles various topics such as ditching, vaping and theft, all tying back to the idea that the choices of high schoolers affect their futures. The idea for the film came from a collaboration of the teams thoughts on issues which pressure teenagers today.
Feather staffers take the roles of professional film makers, with Ethan Hamm, ‘20, directing, Blake Deffenbacher, ‘20, as camera operator, Braden Bell, ‘20, as assistant director, Wesley Hinton, ‘20, as 1st assistant camera, and Austin Petersen, ‘22, as audio operator.
For nearly a month leading up to the filming date, the team works to write a script, cast and plan the movie.
Junior Wesley Hinton appreciates the learning experience that this production provided.
“During the making of this film, it was interesting to see everything that goes into a production,” Hinton said. “I hadn’t ever been a part of creating anything of this magnitude, so it was a great learning experience. The end result looks really good, and it’s awesome too see how all our creative visions came together.”
The filming of ‘Choices’ lasted the duration of one day. The team began in the morning, filming on the Fresno Christian campus, later moving to various locations around the city.
The Feather video team would like to thank alumni, Jarrod Markarian, ’17, advisers, Kori Friesen, Robert Hyatt and Greg Stobbe, and FC administration for support and assistance with this project.
