Clocks will be turned one hour forward at 2 a.m. to begin Daylight Saving Time, March 10.

Daylight Saving Time is a seasonal time change when clocks spring forward one hour to give more sunlight in the evening. It is also called spring forward.

About 40% of countries worldwide use Daylight Saving Time to make better use of daylight and conserve energy, according to timeanddate.com

This was first used in 1916 by Germany and Austria. The idea increased in popularity on April 30, 1916. Germans set their clocks ahead an hour to minimize the use of artificial light and conserve fuel for war.
