Teacher Kimberly Bell’s home economics class learn how to tie a tie properly, March 27.
This lesson of correct etiquette and proper wardobe goes along with the upcoming formal event: N.O.T.S., March 30.
Students recieve ties to practice the right way to tie multiple types of nots. To help the students, Bell hands out a step-by-step paper of directions for them to follow.
They are taught how to do the easiest knot first called the ‘Four-In-Hand’ knot. This one best fits for narrow collars and for casual events. Once the class masters this one, they continue to learn other styles such as ‘Full Windsor’, ‘Half Windsor’ and ‘Pratt’.
To make sure each teen understands the right technique, Bell also gives students a ‘Neck Tie Tying Lab’ paper that requires a signture after successfully completeting each type of knot.
Once students practice a few times, they will have a competition to see who ties the fastest.
Check out previous posts done on home economics this year! The class has done baking projects such as cinamon rolls along with learning how to properly cut hair.
