Fresno Christian parents, teachers, and students from Kindergarten to 12th grade gather in the Peoples Church auditorium for the annual beginning of the year convocation, Aug. 12.
Proceeding worship, Superintendent, Jeremy Brown, junior high and high school principal, Amy Deffenbacher, and Board Chairman Jeremy Vanderlinden share words of encouragement to kick off the 2019-’20 school year.
Campus worship team teacher, Daniel Garrison, leads the congregation in worship, performing songs including Good Grace and Every Little Thing by Hillsong.
While many new students join the FC community this year, the majority return after attending the school for many years. Among those students is senior, Kayden Marquez, who looks forward to reconnecting with old friends after summer break.
“I’ve been at Fresno Christian pretty much my whole life, since first grade.” Marquez said. “So I’ve grown up with these people and experienced everything with them. So now, being a senior, it’s just insane. It hasn’t really kicked in yet that I’m a senior, but I’m excited to see what happens.”
Approximately 700 students attend convocation, with around 100 new students in attendance. New students travel from countries around the globe, including Brazil and Denmark.
