Former USC and NFL player Keith Davis and former Texas A&M player Vince Hobbs speak to Fresno Christian students during chapel with non-profit organization Champions for Tomorrow, Oct. 1.
Champions for Tomorrow travels the world, visiting schools and encouraging students to make good choices and reach their full potential.
Speakers from the institution cover a wide variety of topics during their visits, including peer pressure, right and wrong choices, drugs, suicide, and the power of words.
Being former NFL and college football athletes, Davis and Hobbs encourage students with their testimonies, encouraging them to look ahead to the future, and learn from bad decisions instead of dwelling on them.
Sharing his past mistakes, Hobbs inspires students by challenging them to be genuine instead of two-faced, emboldening students to succeed despite their past.
“I was supposed to get drafted in the second round of the NFL draft,” Hobbs said. “I had accolades, other people, ESPN telling me and putting it out there that by junior year. I was supposed to be drafted in the second round to who knows where; but all of that got cut behind me living a two-faced life. But I got out, and made a change. It’s not about how you start; it’s about how you finish.”
