While funding for college causes stress among seniors, many students find the process becomes easier with guidelines. Regardless of available scholarships, many need to find their own funding for college.
Appling for scholarships such as the Cal grant requires a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.
In order to cope with stress, a college funding night will be held on Feb. 15 at 7 P.M., in room 606 of Building 6. Students will receive assistance with their FAFSA forms.
Associate Principal, Jon Endicott, will speak at the workshop and address the Cal Grant, Pell Grant and other scholarships.
?Colleges can still give scholarships to seniors without them receiving the Cal Grant,? Endicott said. ?Even if a student is denied any scholarships, the FAFSA form is still needed to get student loans.?
The meeting will address any questions parents or students have about the FAFSA and Cal Grant. For many seniors the meeting may be the deciding factor between funding options and where they can attend college.
?I plan on going to Fresno State for the first two years of college for my general education,? Megan Joy, ?07, said. ?After that I hope to transfer to Fullerton State because of their art program.? Joy plans on attending the meeting for help with the forms.
Students can also go online for help in filling out the FAFSA forms. Click on one of the two links below for more information.
