Dear Editor:
Although unknown to most, the cheer squads work hard every day to produce difficult and interesting routines. Brittany Lauber?s Feb. 26 article, ?Cheer places 2nd behind rival? , showed how even though we try our best, we do not always come out on top.
At an earlier competition against Whittier High, both squads performed less-than-perfect routines. Afterwards, we vowed to do better the next time.
We worked hard to perfect our routines. When we performed, both teams gave the best performances of the year. Everyone thought we deserved to win this time.
When the awards ceremony came, JV and then, varsity, were both disappointed with our rankings. However, we knew that we gave it our all. As coach Katie (Mendenhall) said, “some think politics had a say in the standings.”
With tryouts and new teams approaching, we intend to practice hard. Next year, both squads will be ready to defeat Whittier.
Freshman Elizabeth Grossman is a junior varsity cheerleader.

We don’t drop girls, especially while performing. 🙂
