The Fresno Christian Varsity Girls Soccer Team defeats Kerman, 2-1, in the last round of playoffs to win the 2019-2020 CIF Central Section Division V Valley Championship, Feb. 21.
The first half consisted of two goals scored by Rylee Schwab, ’21 and Bekah Micu, ’20, ending the first half, 2-0.
In the second half Kerman answered with one goal, but was unable to match the Eagle’s efforts, ending the game with the scoreboard reading, 2-1.
The student section cheered their team on by dressing in spirit wear, waving flags and playing horns and drums. When the final whistle blew the student section joined the team on the field bringing both colorful smoke and cheers of encouragement.
As the plaque was awarded and championship hats distributed, tears of joy flowed from player’s faces. The last two seasons in a row the team made it to the finals, but lost, leaving them Runner Up Valley Champions two years in a row. Winning Valley Champions was a big deal for the team.
