COLUMN: Photographer Bella Johns unveils her passion
From a young age, I’ve grown up hearing about The Feather Online even though I wasn’t attending Fresno Christian. Soon after I transferred to FC, I knew that I wanted to be engaged on campus. The Feather is a great way to stay involved with campus news.
Before FC, I found a love for photography. Some of my family members were involved and since then I found myself building a love for it. Since joining The Feather, I have had hands on experiences with a camera and have become more active in my community.
While it is my first year on The Feather, I’ve learned to take clear and quality photos, become creative with my images, all while changing ISO, aperture, exposure and depth of field.
Through the winter sports season, I’ve discovered a passion for taking action photos. At first I felt pressure from the busy sports schedule, but soon I grew to love it.
Another type of photography I enjoy is nature. Through the first month of training with a camera, I was tasked with learning camera settings.
When we would walk around the halls or outside, I would take photos of car logos, flowers, signs, fire extinguishers and lockers. I recently wrote a photo post, Has spring sprung?, about the current climate change; I found happiness in walking around outside in search of blossoms and flowers.
The Feather has been a big time consumer and causes me to stress a lot, but through this opportunity I’ve found a passion for photography. With more experience, I believe that I will become more confident behind a lens and also with my writing.
