Dear Editor:
Rules from the administration limit students’ abilities. Spencer Lee?s March 1 article, ?School policy questioned,? brings to my attention that kids should partake in whatever sport they desire.
What if in my case and others, we can contribute our talent in additional sports? Our school, regardless of size, should let kids participate in whatever sport they enjoy. Students need opportunities to join new sports.
Now that the opportunity has arose, we have to wait a year. Seniors won’t get to play new sports if they played a sport last year. Kids should enjoy playing sports they want to play and endeavor.
If our school spoke of this policy last year, others and I would have our kept eighth period open. Now seniors with sports last year aren?t able to contribute to this new intriguing sport (golf). It’s just sad that kids wont be able to experience new sports.
Not one other school has this rule for sports. Schools ought to want everyone to participate and contribute. Sports aren?t just for winning, but for experience, being a team and having a good time with friends.
