Roughly 200 Fresno Christian students and staff left the classroom to serve in many different parts of Fresno and it’s surrounding areas for FC Serve Day, Feb 27, 2020. The day was planned in partnership with Every Neighborhood Partnership (ENP) Fresno.
Five buses filled with FC students left in the morning after second period to travel west Fresno to clean graffiti, Medical Ministries International, Cross City Christian Church, Storyland, Discovery Center, Reading Heart, and other various parks. Students did many jobs including weeding, raking, digging, painting over graffitied walls, and sorting medical supplies.
On the FC campus, students were very busy. Over 25,000 books were sorted at FCS through the nonprofit book donation program Reading Heart. The books will be distributed to King Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, and Washington Colony, where all students will receive a free book. This organization is dedicated to serving kids in hospitals and children who don’t have access to books.
This year’s FC Serve Day completes the 7th Annual Serve Day with the goal of giving back to the community. If you are interested in serving in Fresno County, head to everyneighborhood.org to learn more about different opportunities. Additionally, most of the middle school and many of the FC elementary students also participated in varied volunteer activities.
