Students return to campus as county Covid numbers hold
After seven months of quarantine and alternative learning, Fresno Christian’s doors will reopen to high school and middle school students, Oct. 15. New rules and social distancing protocol continue to make the 2020-21 school year unique.
Unlike previous years, high school and middle school drivers must enter the campus from the Cedar entrance, as the Alluvial gate is reserved for elementary. Currently there is construction on Cedar that will delay this process.
Before arriving, students must complete a health check through Fresno Christian’s screening app. One you open the app website on your phone, you can save it to your home screen for easy daily access. Paper screening will also be available to those students without devices.
Once on campus, students will have to adapt to wearing masks, washing hands, and not using lockers. Lunch also looks different, as no hot lunches will be served and students cannot finish eating in class.
The first day’s schedule differs from a normal Thursday schedule. Classes will follow normal times on Friday.
Thursday’s special bell schedule:
8:00-8:40 (40min) Homeroom
8:45-9:15 (30min) 1st Period
9:20-9:50 (30min) 2nd Period
9:55-10:30 (35min) Chapel
10:30-10:40 (10min) Break
10:40-11:10 (30min) 3rd Period
11:15-11:45 (30min) 4th Period
11:50-12:20 (30min) Lunch
12:25-12:55 (30min) 5th Period
1:00-1:30 (30min) 6th Period
1:35-2:05 (30min) 7th Period
Though much has changed, Fresno County’s lowering Covid numbers allow a return to normalcy. School rules regarding dress code, which were relaxed during alternative learning, still apply on campus.
As part of October spirit events, student leadership will announce high school dress-up days for the last week of the month, Oct. 26-30.
