Fresno Christian chemistry students participate in a copper transformative lab led by science teacher Scott Bucher, Nov. 5.
This hands-on experience mixed different chemicals and elements with copper helping them study the periodic table.
Sophomore Zachary Vanderlinden shares his experience in the lab.
“We mixed copper with different chemicals, and it turned back into a totally different form of copper. The results were surprising,” Vanderlinden said.
Students were able to understand the effects of adding substances to chemicals. For example, applying heat to elements, such as copper, change its color and form. “We heated up the copper too much and it exploded!” exclaimed fellow student, Marshall Goldsborough, ‘23.
Vanderlinden along with fellow students are grateful to be back in person with hands-on experience in the chemistry lab. Way more interesting they say.
