Fresno Christian’s annual Operation Christmas Child Box collecting comes to an end, Nov. 16. Students ranging from Kinder-12th grade participate in gathering these boxes for less fortunate kids around the world. Each year, Fresno Christian students set a goal and this year they brought in a total of 412. One student, Macey Reedy, donated 127 all by herself!
Bob Pierce, the founder of Samaritans Purse, met brave women who dedicated their lives to helping others and spreading God’s word when he traveled throughout Asia in 1973. After this experience, God blessed Pierce with a vision of his ministry and, since then, he willfully dedicated his life to help provide for orphans and less fortunate families around the globe. In 1773, Pierce met a curious young student, Franklin Graham, who would soon accompany Pierce on his many missions. After Bob Pierce’s tragic death in 1978 due to leukemia, Graham took over as President and Chairman of the Board of Samaritans Purse. Under God’s leadership, Graham has blessed many kids and families even through natural disasters and wars.
Zoe Bull ‘23, shares how helping kids around the world has been an annual opportunity to give back.
“I’ve been at Fresno Christian since kindergarten and I’ve loved helping out with Operation Christmas Child. Every year, my mom and I bring a box in for kids around the globe,” Bull said.
Students have the opportunity to include many items in these boxes such as toys, personal hygiene items, books, art supplies, and bibles.
“One of my favorite things to include in the box,” Bull continues, “is clothes because it is more of a personal thing. If a child who hasn’t had new clothes for awhile gets new clothes, it’s really amazing for them and a good opportunity.”
If you are interested in donating, this program needs donations all year round to make Operation Christmas Child a success. Thank you to all who donated!
