As students transition back to school after Thanksgiving break, countdowns to Christmas begin on campus and world-wide, Dec. 1.
Due to the global coronavirus, Christmas season looks a lot different this year as annual school, Fresno and Clovis community events have to cancel and Christmas celebrations.
Feather photojournalists, Bella Johns, ’22, and Summer Foshee, ’23, are creating a countdown “segment” on The Feather Instagram‘s story. Everyday the pair will post something related to Christmas either a question, poll, facts, traditions, etc. to engage students on campus and get students in the holiday cheer.
For instance, Fresno Christian High School leadership has talked about hiding an elf on the shelf, Demetrius, around campus to engage students for the Christmas season. The first student to find the elf and send a photo to the FCHS Eagles Instagram will receive a prize yet to be determined.
A Fresno classic community event closed the 100th annual Christmas Tree Lane walk nights to reduce the spread of COVID-19. CTL is located on Van Ness in Fig Garden.
Cindy Lane, near the corner of Alluvial and Peach in Clovis, is also cancelling walk nights and will enforce a no walker policy in the neighborhood.
Some school and community events:
Christmas Tree Lane drive nights only: Dec. 1 – Dec. 25
Cindy Lane drive nights only: Dec. 1 – Dec. 25
Canned food drive ends Dec. 11
Stuffed animal drive, Dec. 18
Christmas break, Dec. 19- Jan. 11, 2021
The Feather would encourage their readers to send videos, photos, and links to social media to help represent the campus community during the Christmas season.
Stay safe and have a Merry Christmas!
