To be known 2021
New video series To Be Known, features Fresno Christian campus students with a look into their personal lives offering an opportunity to connect deeper. Bringing you a collection of interviews from various students allows others to know a part of their life outside of school. Hobbies, work, family background, aspirations and challenges during this global pandemic. It is the aim of The Feather video journalists to tell their story to help them be known.
Introducing junior Derek DeGroot who most on campus are familiar with due to his role as chaplain, worship team member and Fresno Christian “lifer”. Growing up as a 4th generation dairy farmer DeGroot would say this has shaped his character and offered him many opportunities.
Hoping to continue in agriculture, DeGroot plans to attend CalPoly University in San Luis Obispo and work in the family business after. Oldest of four siblings he enjoys driving his most valued possession to school each morning, his 2004 lifted GMC 2500 truck. Comment below if you would like to suggest a name for his truck.
DeGroot shares encouraging words about loss and grief as he experienced the sudden death of his mentor / youth pastor Eddie Crain in 2015 at the age of 39. This event in his life helped him grow closer to The Lord as he continued to trust in His bigger plan.
We hope you enjoyed getting to know more about Derek DeGroot.
