Campus 8th graders celebrate a big milestone after completing their Constitution test, Feb. 17. Each year, this occasion is marked with a luncheon hosted by parents after weeks of studying and hard work.
Students dress up for the special occasion in suits and dresses with nerves on full display. Pandemic precautions did allow for a box lunch option as Chick-fil-A catered the meal. A favorite amongst students.
Do you remember the Preamble? Bill of Rights? The 27 Amendments? With the retirement of long time educator Hallie Rojeski, new history teacher Nicole Larson, took over the planning as she hoped to carry out the tradition. Unfortunately Larson was not able to attend due to unforeseen circumstances.
Even though the idea of the test was stressful students enjoyed the right of passage as their jr. high years comes to an end.
“The idea of not passing the test was stressful,” said Mallory Friesen. “I ended up missing some important days the week before and that added pressure to study more at home.”
“The Constitution test was great and I loved everything about it. My favorite part of it was being able to dress up,” said Dylan Fittro.
“Lunch and eating chick-fil-a was the best part,” said Julia Castiglione. ” I felt prepared going into the test and knew I did well when it was over.”
“Completing the test felt like I reached a milestone,” said Dawson Briner. “I always struggle with true or false questions so that part was the hardest.”
Students received their scores the next day and the result were widely positive as only a few will need to retake the test.
