Serve day has been a Fresno Christian tradition for seven years. This year, FC will not be taking part in the annual serve day due to the coronavirus. High school leadership wants to continue to serve and came up with a plan to have smaller serve opportunities around Fresno in light of serve day.
The first serve project is cleaning The Art of Life Healing Garden located in Woodward park. Leadership students and advisers, Aubri Foster and Robert Foshee, head off campus during their block period to help clean the garden, Feb. 24.
Students serve around the park by cleaning plaques and artwork, sanitizing bleachers, sweeping paths and writing positive messages around the park in chalk.
The Art of Life Cancer Foundation is an organization who inspires and gives hope to patients impacted with cancer. You can help those with cancer by donating or serving. Follow along the Art of Life journey through their Facebook page, visit The Art of Life Cancer Foundation.
The next serve opportunity is Friday, Feb. 26 in the FC Gym to help sort books for Reading Hearts. Anyone is welcome to serve around 3:45-5. Beverages and snacks will be provided! If you are interested, make sure to RSVP by 3 p.m., Fri. 25.
These serve opportunities are not only a good way to show kindness, but is also a good change to get community service for your college applications. College may seem far away, but it’s good to have a plan. Talk to Evangelina Escovedo about what you need to be on track to graduate from FC and what college looks like for you. Stay tuned to The Feather, for more serve opportunities and ways to help the community.
