Have you ever wanted to be colored in chalk? High school students participate in one of the biggest fundraisers of the year, the Apex color battle, Feb. 26. Students who donate $30 or more, are rewarded with a color battle.
In the midst of a pandemic and cancelation of events, High school leadership plans the Apex fundraiser in hopes to spread fun.
FC has paired up with the Apex Leadership Co. Fundraiser to put on this event. The goal was to raise money for more fun school activities with lower prices such as Sadies. FC has teamed up with Apex in the past, with events like an Apex fun run and an Apex glow run.
High school students were given an access code to collect donations within each bible class, Leadership, Scott Falk‘s classes, Aubri Foster‘s classes and Worship. Money was raised through the online platform, Anython. The more money each individual raised, earned the student more packets of chalk.
Total money raised in each bible class:
Leadership: $2,055
7th period Falk: $1,410
1st period Falk: $460
Worship: $450
2nd period Falk: $330
2nd period Foster: $220
6th period Falk: $170
5th period Foster: $115
3rd period Foster: $90
4th period Foster: $30
Approximately 56 students participated in the event, surpassing a goal $5,000!
Students got excused out of seventh period to take part in a chalk battle and other small events. This event included dodgeball, a relay race, the first ever chalk volleyball and a ‘color dunk tank’ all while students are being sprayed with chalk. At the end of the event, students gather in the middle of the FC field and throw all different colors of chalk at each other.
Some students were even given extra credit opportunities in classes such as English with Andrea Donaghe.
Be on the lookout for the middle school Apex color battle later in the year!
Special thanks to those that participated and helped donate money for Fresno Christian!
