The Feather Online staff and the campus leadership team take to the street early morning to promote the 34th annual Kids Day fundraiser, March 9. Students held up signs to encourage drivers to donate to Valley Children’s Hospital by texting “George” to 20222. Valley Children’s Kids Day 2021 went virtual and donations are also accepted on their website.
The Fresno area community can also donate $1 to The Fresno Bee newspaper website to excess a special digital Kids Day 20121 edition.
Normally, campus students would join thousands of Central Valley volunteers to sell a special edition of The Fresno Bee and collect cash donations for Valley Children’s Hospital. Due to Covid-19, this was not possible for the second year in a row.
Feather staffers stand on the corner of Maple and Alluvial with hand-made signs and donated Valley Children’s swag including blue shades. Students dance, wave, yell and to inform drivers to donate! High school leadership stationed themselves at Cedar and Alluvial avenues with balloons and signs.
A honk, wave, thumbs up and nod from motorists made students feel acknowledged and hopefully passed on the goodwill to others.
In the following tweet, The Feather staffers joined campus leadership to promote Valley Children’s Hospital during the 35th annual Kids Day, March 9.

Valley Children’s has served the San Joaquin Valley families in need of special care for 70 years. According to The Fresno Bee, clinic care has helped millions of kids across the Central Valley and is titled one of the best children’s hospitals worldwide.
Kids Day has raised over $10M during the first 32 years. Valley Children’s patients come from 43 states and all over California.
To extend their aid to families, the medical center relies on special events to raise money for children in need. Kids Day remains one of the most beloved traditions in the Central Valley. Teaming up with ABC30 and The Fresno Bee, Valley Children’s will mark its 34th year co-sponsoring the event with these and other Valley sponsors.
During its 32nd year, community volunteers raised around $600,000 for Valley Children’s Hospital. With irregularities brought on by Covid-19, last year’s event did not reach near the same amount yet still managed to gather around $178,000 in donations.
Valley Children’s hopes to bring awareness to the community about ways to give through social media platforms and public outreaches. In 2019, Fresno Christian students raised $2,181.29 on Kids Day!
