The Feather is honored with a 2019 CSPA Digital News Silver Crown from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association during the 95th annual CSPA Spring Convention at Columbia University, March 22.
Editor in chief Alexander Rurik, ’19, represents The Feather team at this year’s conference. This is the first time in many years The Feather has not made the annual New York trip to attend the CSPA Spring Convention at Columbia University. Rurik is accompanied by mother, Julie Rurik, father, Scott Rurik, and brother, Andrew Rurik.
After supporting and cheering for newspapers and yearbooks ahead of The Feather, the team’s time finally arrived. Rurik walked to the front of the auditorium to receive the CSPA Digital News Silver Crown plaque.
Staff members at home gather in the lab to watch the Instagram live stream of the awards ceremony.
The Feather has won eight Gold Crowns since 2010. The team has also received six NSPA Pacemakers since 2006.
Feather team, express their deepest gratitude to Columbia Scholastic Press Association for this honor. They would like to thank the supportive followers, advisers, editors, writers, photojournalists and video journalists who made this accomplishment possible.
The team also recognizes administration, teachers and especially IT adviser Robert Hyatt. Today’s victory could never have been possible without the support of these people.
Congratulations to all the other 2019 Crown recipients.
