Fresno Christian set to host for the third year in a row, The Pagmeter Road to Selland, boys basketball showcase, Jan. 22 in the FC gym from 10:30 a.m. through the last game at 8 p.m. Fourteen teams will participate in the showcase and play one game only. This showcase is not a tournament but will highlight a ‘Player of the Game’ after each match up.
With basketball season in full force, varsity boys are currently (2-0) in the East Sierra league winning their last game on Jan. 18 against Summit Charter Collegiate Acadamy (57-45) . The team looks forward to the showcase as an opportunity to play for possible scouts.
Team Captain and shooting guard Henry Baker hopes to play the sport in college with a dream of attending UCLA.
“Knowing there are recruiters sitting in the stands motivates me more and gives me more of an edge,” Baker said. “This showcase feels different then other tournaments we play because it’s in our home gym and we get to play a rival.”
The Eagles will match up against the Fowler Redcats who are currently 1st with a (4-0) standing in the West Sequoia League. Game starts at 1:45 p.m. Concessions will be available with a $7 gate fee.
“This is a fun event with some of the top talent from around The Valley, we would love for our community to come and cheer us on.” Coach Jonathan Penberthy says.
