Boys volleyball open their season with a round-robin scrimmage, Feb. 1. Fresno Christian hosted Roosevelt, Reedly, Madera South, Central and Hoover high schools in 25 minute matches. Teams rotated around four nets set up in the FCS gym.

While referees were present to determine what team received a point, scores were not recorded. This provided a learning opportunity for players to better understand how the game works before league matches.

Junior Cooper Saelzler has experience playing volleyball for Triumph Volleyball Academy (TVA), a program founded by Steve Guglielmana, also the coach of the team.

“Club level is super high,” Saezler said. “Coming here, it is a lot lower of a skill level. But I’m excited to help build the team up, have teamwork, and work together. With the practice and experience we’ve had, we did pretty good.”

Go support the Eagles for their first league game against Sunnyside, Feb. 15 at 3:30 p.m.
