As winter sports roll into playoffs, spring sports, such as baseball, begin after-school practices. High school baseball coach, Noah Heinz prepares his team out on the field during practice for the upcoming season, Feb. 7.
Heinz is going into his eleventh season of coaching FC baseball. After teaching his last class of middle school science for the day, Heinz treks across campus to the baseball field to shape up his players for preseason. (Schedule tagged below)
“I’ve played since t-ball,” Heinz said, “I learned how to play baseball back in 1986 as a six-year-old, and the passion for the game has grown ever since. I’ve played other sports, but I’ve always been drawn to baseball.”
Junior, Mason Petrie has played pitcher and third baseman at FC for two years, coached by Heinz.
“I think the team will do great throughout the season and everyone will give it their all,” Petrie said, “My favorite part of baseball is playing alongside my friends.”
Heinz and Petrie both have high expectations for the new freshmen and anticipate improvement in the team overall.
“Last year we fell short in the Valley Championship game and we have pretty much our whole squad coming back, plus some very impactful freshmen,” Heinz said, “So we do have sky-high expectations this year.”
