It’s National School Counselor Appreciation Week and we’re celebrating Academic Advisor, Evangelina Escovedo.
Escovedo came to Fresno Christian in the 2017-18 school year, with the hopes of making an impact on students’ lives. As a regular contributor to The Feather Online, Escovedo shares advice, college information, testing info and encouragement for students.
Every second semester she meets with every freshman, sophomore and junior to help them prepare for life after 12th grade. Escovedo claims it is never too early to start thinking about college.
“My role as a student counselor is to support the students mentally, socially, emotionally and academically.” Escovedo said.
College decisions for most seniors are a stressful journey, with everything from applications, scholarships and testing information overloaded in the fall semester. Weekly newsletters and meetings help seniors stay on track.
Escovedo herself attended Fresno Pacific University and graduated with her credential and masters degree. Another big milestone for Escovedo is recently getting married and starting a photography side business alongside her husband called Fidem Photo.
