Seniors prepare for sports at college level
Four Fresno Christian athletes received athletic scholarships this year. They signed letters of intent May 16th, 2022 in the PC Gym at Fresno Christian. Seniors Bradley Cheney, Orion Tomlinson, Jackie Gugliemana and Makayla Davila all signed.
Cheney is going to The Master’s University to play soccer on a scholarship. Cheney came to Fresno Christian his sophomore year and played on the varsity team all three years.
“I decided to go to Master’s for a couple of reasons. For one, I was really attracted to the atmosphere of the school and the community aspect that I witnessed during my visit,” Cheney said. “I also really connected with some of the players who are currently at the school.”
Tomlinson enrolled to Graceland University. Tomlinson was on varsity the entirety of his high school basketball career. Over the four years he scored more than 1,500 points while playing for Fresno Christian. During his sophomore year the team won the D5 Valley Championship.
Davila looks forward to pursuing her softball career at Fresno City College.
“I’m going to Clovis Community,” Davila said. “But since they don’t have a softball team, I’m able to play for Fresno City.”
Guglielmana signed on in order to play beach volleyball, also with Fresno City.
“Fresno City is close to home, it has a great volleyball program that’s been very successful in the past few years,” Guglielmana said. “They have a beach program and I love beach volleyball. I know people who have played there and said it was great and the coaches are awesome.”
These four athletes performed exceptionally during their time at Fresno Christian. They all seek to continue their career and elevate their athletic skills at the college level.
