Basketball fans will have a final opportunity to watch the varsity boys’ team take on the faculty in the annual match-up on May 18.
The undefeated faculty team remains confident because of their unblemished record.
?The basketball game is a great way to raise money for the basketball team,? Chris Schultz, boys’ varsity basketball coach, said. ?It is also really fun entertainment; the varsity players think that they are going to win but they are up against tradition–the faculty wins every year.?
While the varsity players will rely on their youth, the faculty is fully prepared to battle it out on the court with the varsity team in the 23rd annual game.
?I always look forward to the basketball game,” Jon Hall, football coach, said. “It is a really fun closer to the year. I enjoy interacting with students on a competitive level.?
While both sides remain confident, the bantering or trash talk has been minimal. And, unlike last year, students and adults will be charged to benefit the summer basketball program.
“It will be fun to see the teachers I’ve had in the classroom out of their element in a hostile environment,” guard Ronnie Giannetta, ’07, said. “This year we hope to end their 23-year winning streak.”
Students look forward to watching their teachers and classmates face off on the basketball court.
?I?m excited to see teachers play against the varsity team. I have gone to these games since I was in the 7th grade,? Micaelah Aleman, ?08, said. ?I am especially looking forward to seeing my choir director , Mr. Bryan, out on the court. It is always very entertaining to watch my teachers play against my friends.?
This year the game will be in the FC gym starting at 7 P.M. Tickets are $3 for students and $5 for adults at the door.
