Like countless seniors before them, the graduating class of ?07 embarked on a 3-day adventure on May 19-21. Los Angeles hosted the group, who spent a day at Disneyland, among other things.
Though the trip included a surplus of planned entertainment and amusement parks, many students found leisure in unexpected places.
?I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the bus ride to and from Los Angeles,? Sarah Bonnar, ?07, said. ?There was just this amazing sense of fellowship. We all sang songs and played games and really connected. It was a lot of fun.?
On their journey, the seniors found themselves singing and dancing to ?Father Abraham? and playing board games. They incorporated creativity when some coordinated dress-up days, while others brought instruments to play.
?I liked dressing up with a theme everyday with my friends,? Heather Neel, ?07, said. ?We dressed up as pirates for dinner on the first night and went to Disney Land as the seven dwarves.?
For several baseball fans, the Anaheim Angels vs. Los Angeles Dodgers game was the highlight of the trip.
?The game was fun since I?m a Dodgers fan, but I was disappointed when they lost,? Jeremy Ramos, ?07, said. ?The Angels nearly won with a sweep, but the Dodgers finally managed to score in the last few innings.?
Most seniors agree the moment they boarded the bus together they felt unified. The events seemed to encourage bonding with one another and gave each graduate the opportunity to expand relationships with the rest of the class.
?When we were on the bus, most of my friends tried to tune everyone out by listening to iPods or CD players,? Jason Savage, ?07, said. ?I proposed that the music that was dividing us, could just as easily unite us if we all listened together. We used headphone splitters to all share an iPod and enjoy each other?s favorite songs. It was great.”
Graduation will conclude the year in the Peoples Church Sanctuary on May 24 at 7 P.M. For more information on the event, contact the high school office at 299-1695.
