VIDEO PRODUCTION CLASS APPS–
All students who are interested in participating in the video production classes next year need to come and pick up an application from adviser Chris Schultz in room 624 (video lab). The students will have until the end of this week to pick up an application; otherwise they will not be eligible for the class.
FCS LUNCHEON–MAY 4–
The Fellow of Christian Athlete club planning a speaker luncheon on May 4 in the J.J. Room. All students are encouraged to attend. Bring $3 for a pizza lunch.
JOSTENS RING MEETING–
A Jostens’ rep will be holding a ring meeting for the parents of 7th through 12 graders. Any parents interested in seeing sample class rings or speaking with a rep, please drop by the Jackie Johnson Hospitality room on May 3 from 5:30-7 P.M.
SPIRIT WEEK, MAY 1-5–
With graduation only a month away, the Associated Student Body leadership will begin the last month with Spirit Week, May 1-5. Each day has a theme including May 3: Field Water Wars and Beach Day. John’s lunch truck will set up on the North field. Students are encouraged to wear beach attire. More information is posted on the office window.
CINCO DE MAYO FIESTA–
There will be a Cinco de Mayo Fiesta sponsored by the California Scholarship Federation on May 5 to raise funds for the CSF Senior Scholarship. The lunch will be a part of the Spirit Week celebration which will also culminate in the Associated Student Body elections and Patriotic Day. English teachers will be handing out a form for lunch orders: combo is $4 while a la carte nachos will be $2.
JUNIOR LUNCH PASSES–
During the dates, May 18-19, administration has decided to give all qualified juniors permission to go off campus at lunch, provided they meet the regular off-campus requirements as expected of seniors. After juniors have garnered a parent/guardian permission and signature, please return the form to high school secretaries and they will get signatures from administrators. Lunch passes will be handed out on May 17.
FCC REGISTRATION–
Seniors interested in attending Fresno City College should attend the Registration Express Day, Monday, May 15 from 8:15 A.M. until 12:30 P.M at FCC. Seniors should have already applied and taken the placement test. Placement test arrangements can be made by calling 442-8282. Report to the staff dining room in the cafeteria located near the south end of campus. Bring a high school transcript, photo ID and a No. 2 pencil. This is for students attending FCC, not the Clovis Center. Questions, see Jon Endicott, associate principal, for more information.
CLOVIS CENTER REGISTRATION–
Those seniors interested Clovis Center need to schedule a date with a counselor. Registration begins May 15, and can be done, online, in person or over the phone. Bring a high school transcript to the Clovis Center and ask for a counseling appointment to plan next year’s schedule. For more informaiton, see Jon Endicott, associate principal.
ACSI ART FESTIVAL WINNER–
Congratulations to Corinne Pogue for winning Senior Best of Show at the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) Art Festival on April 29 in Merced. Winning Superior ratings were Perri Potigian, Julia Schnur on both of her entries, and Megan Ortiz. Good work! Excellent ratings were won by: Sarah Bonner, J.D. Perry, Melanie Nachtigal, Rebecca Wilson, Alicia Waters, Nick Erickson, Calvin Smith, Katie White, Janae Keys-Bramlett, and Ie Run Jung.
PSN SCHOLARSHIP APPS–
Parent Support Network scholarship applications are available through Jon Endicott, associate principal’s office. Any seniors with a GPA above 3.25 are encouraged to apply.
SENIOR ATHLETE APPRECIATION DINNER–
The senior athlete appreciation dinner inducted three alumni into a wall of fame on May 1 at Pardinis Restaurant in Fresno. Soccer stars Randy Whitlow (’85), Danny Risch (’97) and tennis star Whitney Wells (’97) were honored for their athletic accomplishments. The evening was also a celebration of current senior athletes’ seasons and they were also honored for their committment to excellence.
GRAD NIGHT–
Administration is requesting that seniors buy their tickets for the Senior Grad night party by May 1. The last parent grad night meeting is May 9 at 6:30 P.M. Details will be revealed at a later date but the party is scheduled for after graduation on May 25. Everyone is welcome.
GRADUATION PERFORMANCE–
Any senior interested in singing or playing at graduation needs to see Aaron Bryan in the music suite by April 26 afternoon to sign-up for auditions on May 2 during lunch. Students must provide their own accompaniment for the audition or an accompaniment CD. For more information, contact Bryan at [email protected].
ENSEMBLE, WOMEN’S CHORALE AUDITIONS–
Auditions for ensemble and women’s chorale will be held during lunch, May 3 and 4. Auditions are open to all high school students, regardless of previous experience.
SUMMER SCHOOL–
Those students intereted in taking summer studies, can pick up the application forms that are set out in front of the high school office. The forms must be filled out and returned with a parent signature and payment by April 28.
SUMMER JOB POSITIONS–
Wild Water Adventure Park in Clovis will be hiring 350 people for seasonal positions this summer. Applicants must be 16 years old. Applications are available outside high school office window, or can be downloaded from www.wildwater.net or call 559-297-6500 for more information. Interviews begin during Spring Break.
In addition to Wild Water, The Island Water Park is also hiring applicants for the summer season. Applications are available in front of the high school office.
