Colleges from around the nation will gather in one place, for one night, to sell their wares to college-bound students. The annual Fresno Area College Night will be held in the Fresno Convention Center Exhibit Hall from 6?9P.M. on Sept. 12.
The evening caters to students in grades 10-12 who are interested in learning about college admissions, planning, financial aid and more.
?I encourage all juniors and seniors to attend,? Jon Endicott, associate principal, said. ?It will motivate students to get serious about the college process. It?s a good way to get started and gather information about the variety of options available.?
Last year, between 4,000 and 5,000 students and parents attended the event. Representatives from various colleges from around the state provide information to anyone interested. Over 100 colleges are present annually, each willing to answer any questions concerning their institution.
?The college night is really one-stop shopping for anyone interested in finding information about college,? Jennifer Quinn, Special Projects Coordinator, said. ?Students can find admissions information from the selective schools, or the best way to pay for Fresno State.?
The Fresno County Office of Education (FCOE) hosts the event each year. The Office suggests asking questions about admissions requirements, costs, transfer policies, student housing and any deadlines for applications.
“I attended the college night last year,” Ashley Hall, ’08, said, “and it really clarified a lot of issues that seemed ambiguous to me.”
