Meeting Cristina Mittermeier, renowned ocean conservationist and award winning photographer at San Joaquin Valley Town Hall created a deeper interest in ocean conservation.
Mittermeier spoke about her concerns for many of the world’s population carrying the mentality of either, “Someone else will do it,” or “We’re all going to die someday so why care?” This type of apathy is exactly what her organization Sea Legacy is fighting against.
We ran an poll online asking students to honestly let us know if they care about the oceans and out of 322 engagements 69% said yes. The infographic below shows a few of the many concerning facts about the ocean, highlighting plastic waste as a major problem to our oceans.
