The Feather team attends the first day of CSPA Spring Journalism conference teaching three different workshops, March 13.
To kick off the daily adventures, students participated in various classes. Feather advisor Kori James teaches two of the sessions. A&E editor Meilani Gilmore Young, ’24, helps teach “Canva to the rescue,” showing the skills and importance of Canva in the journalism world. Video/photo editor Mallory Friesen, ’25, explains the technique of making a reel on Capcut in the session “For Reels.”
For the last session of the day, James gave a preview of her course, “Digital Media Toolbox,” which she will teach this summer at Columbia University as part of their summer student journalism program.
In the evening, the team walked to Little Italy and Chinatown for dinner and shopping, and closing out their fourth day in New York by seeing the Broadway show, “Hamilton.”
