During the 2023-24 school year, Feather students got the opportunity to see the 9/11 Memorial in New York. This provided many students a chance to take heart the tragedy that affected many lives on that day.
Feather students, Delaney Meyers, ’26, Chloe McDonald, ’24 and Mallory Friesen ’25, share how their perspectives were impacted after visiting the 9/11 Memorial in New York.
It is essential for current high school students, who were not alive during the tragic attack on the Twin Towers, to visit memorials. Seeing this history unfold before young eyes, fosters honor and a deeper appreciation for past events that impacted our country immensely.
The 9/11 Memorial gave Meyers and McDonald the ability to deepen their acknowledgment of the unity of the Country after the attack, while the Memorial allowed Friesen to broaden her empathy for the victims of 9/11.
If you want to visit the 9/11 Memorial in New York, it’s open Wednesday to Monday and select Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
