As the fall season ends and Christmas rapidly approaches, students are reminded of the gift of giving with Fresno Christian’s partnership with Operation Christmas Child. This annual event brings the community together to help spread Christmas cheer to children that are less fortunate.
Operation Christmas Child was founded in 1993 by Samaritan’s Purse President Franklin Graham. Their mission is to “demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world.” They give Christmas gifts to children who have been affected by poverty, natural disasters, disease and global conflict. Since 1993 Operation Christmas Child has brought joy and spread the Gospel to over 220 million children around the world.
The boxes are due Monday, Nov. 18, and should be brought to room 608. They should be filled with school supplies, hygiene items, toys and other small gifts. Last year Fresno Christian was able to collect over 300 shoeboxes that were delivered around the world.
Your participation can make a child’s year and bring Christmas cheer to those who are struggling.
Here is a simple guide on how to pack your box:
Step 1: Choose an average size cardboard or plastic shoe box. You can use your own or a colorful Operation Christmas Child preprinted box.
Step 2: Choose whether your box is for a boy or a girl.
Step 3: Fill your box with various gifts according to the recommended packing instructions. It is highly encouraged to write a letter for the child that is getting the gift.
Step 4: Pray for the child and their family.
Step 5: Make sure to carefully label your box.
Step 6: Drop off your box and include $10 for shipping to help the package reach an awaiting child.
