This Saturday, the FC Gym will become a sacred haven for high school basketball as people gather for the Pagmeter Showcase sponsored by Dutch Bros. The event will feature seven matchups from 10:45 a.m. to 7:45 p.m., displaying some of the valley’s top talent and most well-coached programs.
The “Pag Meter” is a name coined by Nick Papagni, a Bullard High School and California State University, Fresno graduate who has covered sports for more than 30 years. After covering Fresno Grizzlies baseball in 2006, Papagni has remained in the high school sports realm, broadcasting anything and everything related to athletics in the valley.
The showcase is a great opportunity for teams to match up with league or non-league opponents to see where they stand at the midpoint of the season. Fresno Christian has the hardest test of their season as they face San Joaquin Memorial, who are ranked #4 for division one in the Central Section on the Pagmeter Division rankings. For comparison, FCS is currently ranked number one in division four.
Here are the games in order:
10:45 a.m.: Liberty Madera vs. Orange Cove
12:15p: Chavez vs. Kerman
1:45p: Selma vs. Garza
3:15p: Fresno Christian vs. San Joaquin Memorial
4:45p: Central vs. Corcoran
6:15p: Clovis East vs. Redwood
7:45p: Kingsburg vs. Lemoore
