Fresno Christian’s Softball team gears up for their 2025 season. New players join the team, and returning players step up to the plate. The team concluded last season with a 12-11 record and hopes for improvement in the coming year.
Senior Marisol Martinez has been on the team for four years and has played softball for 10 years. She aspires for this team to bond and learn from each other.
“We lost a lot of core seniors last year, so I just want more of a learning experience and for the team to bond and get to know each other better,” Martinez said
They have been prepping for weeks, navigating changes on the team, new players and a new coach. The team has been preparing for games by practicing their throwing and hitting and jogging to keep up their endurance.

Brandon Bishel, the new softball coach, played baseball in high school and college. He later earned a national award and is in the Stockton Athletic Hall of Fame. This is his first time being head coach, but he was an assistant coach for a traveling team. Bishel hopes that this season shows improvement.
“I have a deep love for softball and take great joy in sharing my knowledge and passion for the game,” Bishel said. “Even though we’ve only been practicing for about two weeks, we’ve already seen noticeable improvements. The girls are executing drills more quickly and accurately.”
Izabella Gonzalez, ‘28, has been playing softball for about four years. She has been at FCS for two years and is the only freshman on the team. Being a freshman on the team can cause stress since playing at a high school level is more intense than middle school years.

“It’s kind of scary, but also kind of exciting going to your first high school game because you don’t know what you’re going to see,” Gonzalez said.
The team expects they will do well this year and hopes to make it to the playoffs. Make sure to go support the Eagles at the FCS field for home games!
