On May 1, seniors all around the nation announce the colleges they will attend next semester. This day was chosen because it marks the last day they can make any payment for their chosen school. At Fresno Christian, the seniors celebrate the day by wearing a shirt from their future college to share the news with the community.
Senior Natalie Sullivan committed to attend UC Irvine next fall, majoring in history with a focus on prelaw studies. Wearing her navy and yellow shirt, she expresses enthusiasm and gratitude for the chance to attend such a great school.
“It was definitely a God thing!” Sullivan said. “I had a lot of concerns like finances, even getting in and God has shown me that its his plan for me to be there as he answers all my concerns. He has made it possible for me to go to UCI, and I’m truly so grateful and excited.”
Fresno Christian’s school counselor Evangelina Escovedo helps seniors consider their options as early as freshman year. While there are still some students attending schools out of town, this year’s majority of seniors are staying close to home. Many senior athletes plan to compete at the collegiate level next semester.
Senior Theron Myers is the only student leaving the U.S next year to attend Rome City Institute in Italy next fall where he will play soccer. He is thrilled to explore everything, meet new people from around the world, and grow both on and off the field.
“I’m really excited to attend Rome City Institute because it’s in Italy; a place I’ve always loved for its culture, food, and history,” Myers said. “I chose Rome City because I was blessed with a soccer scholarship, and it felt like the perfect mix of passion and opportunity. I’m excited, a little nervous, but mostly just grateful to go over and pursue my dream of living in Rome.”
As Decision Day arrives, one school outshines the rest and is popular among the students. Clovis Community College has accepted multiple seniors from Fresno Christian onto campus, while five students will attend CSUs or UCs.
Senior Chloe Johnson plans to attend Fresno Pacific University next semester and already committed to their stunt team.
“I’ve always known I was going to attend Fresno Pacific University!” Johnson said. “One of the most important things to me is receiving an education with a community rooted in faith. I’m so excited to start this new journey creating godly relationships and competing on their stunt team.”
As the school year comes to an end, finals week is upon us and the annual senior trip will be May 18-20. Graduation will take place at 7 p.m. May 22 in the Peoples Church auditorium. Congratulations class of 2025!
