With the new school year in session and the fall sports season in full effect, Fresno Christian Girls Volleyball amps up for another blockbuster season. The girls ended last year with a dominating 39-14 record and went undefeated, going 9-0 in the Northwest Sequoia League while clinching their third consecutive Valley Championship in a win against Immanuel High School.
The girls served up their first game with an unfortunate loss, going 0-3 on Aug. 19 against Bullard High School.
Head Coach Steve Guglielmana has established a winning culture in the program, claiming three Valley Championships in four years for the Eagles.
“We try to keep the focus on the small things, and working on all the basics will be an emphasis,” Guglielmana said. “God first, each other second, and everything else will take care of itself.”
This season, the growth and number of players joining the program while maintaining their talented core sets the Eagles up for a successful season ahead and creates a new dynamic filled with endless possibilities.
Sophomore Tatum McQuown continues her journey with the Eagles as a second-year varsity setter, hoping to bring positivity to the court.
“An impact I want to make this season is letting players know it’s okay to fail,” McQuown said. “All our wins and losses should reflect God’s glory, and we play for him and not anyone else.”

Many graduates from the team went on to continue their volleyball careers at the college level, such as Krista Brady, who committed to The Master’s University to play collegiate volleyball. This year, Seniors Jordyn DeGroot and Sarah Guglielmana follow suit as each has committed to playing volleyball at the collegiate level. Sarah Guglielmana is committed to attending Concordia University, playing both volleyball and track and field at the Division 2 level. Jordyn DeGroot is committed to the University of Central Arkansas to play Division 1 Beach Volleyball.
Four-year Varsity player and Captain Jordyn Degroot, ‘26, has been a key part and major leader for the team. With this being her last season, she is leaving it all on the court.
“We have so much life after this to look forward to, so I need to not get caught up in the wins and losses,” Degroot said. “And being able to pour into the underclassman around me, letting them know that this isn’t all about volleyball, it’s about honoring and glorifying the Lord through a sport.”
Taking one step forward every single day, trusting in one another, and pushing past trials and tribulations, the girls look to continue adding to their legacy, building upon the foundations laid out throughout the years.
