Before the varsity volleyball game versus Sierra five seniors (left to right) Sarah Guglielmana, Jordyn DeGroot, Danielle Arndt, Petraeus Draper, and Tayla Tarlton were celebrated by their family, friends, and teammates to close out their last season as a Fresno Christian volleyball player. Oct. 23.
This senior night was very special for these players who each received gift baskets made by their fellow teammates to show how much they are going to miss playing with them. And honor the time and effort given to the team. These girls all have a special place in their heart for volleyball, some have been playing before they could even remember and plan on continuing to do so after graduation.
Sarah Guglielmana is a four years varsity player and will continue her volleyball career at Concordia University Irvine for both volleyball and track and field.
Jordyn DeGroot is also a four year varsity volleyball player and will continue her volleyball journey at University of Central Arkansas.
Danielle Arndt has played on varsity volleyball for two years. Danielle has enjoyed these last few years and always loved playing with this team. “These girls are the reason I play the sport, it has become a place to grow friendships but also have great fellowship as we put God first.” Arndt said.
Tayla Tarlton is a three year varsity player, who plans not to continue volleyball after high school, but loves the sport deeply.
Petraeus Draper is a 2 year varsity volleyball player. She said she has learned a lot but one of the most important lesson is to never settle. “I felt stuck Junior year, thinking I was playing the same, and I thought I couldn’t improve on my hitting. For several games I felt stuck and settled for that negative mindset. Draper said. When I reached out and asked my coach what I could improve on he replied with tips that I hadn’t thought of. His words of encouragement changed my perspective to continue striving for more.”
