Music, little kids’ laughter, parents cheering, student-made floats; all these things point to Homecoming at a high school football game. While this year’s theme of music may bring a unique challenge to each class, many students choose not to participate.
Student body president Scott Orcutt, ’09, stresses the need of involvement from other students in order to meet senior expectations.
“Many hands make easier work,” Orcutt said. “It is also good to come together as a class on a project of this size.”
Kevin Damm has helped out the past three years and plans on contributing again, utilizing his construction skills.
“It has been really fun,” Damm said. “The best year would have to be my freshman year. A lot of people helped out and we got it done really fast.”
John Carreon, who has not participated previously due to football, looks forward to the opportunity to build.
“I didn’t want to,” Carreon said. “I was busy with football and knew that I wouldn’t be able to be on it, but now I’m glad I have time, because I’m not playing this year.”
Each class has a unique theme for their homecoming floats. The freshmen will present bluegrass, the sophomores old-school rap, the juniors ’90s pop and seniors techno. This year the floats will be stationary, because of Clark Immediate’s new track.
The students will meet at peers’ houses in order to finish on time. The seniors meet this Saturday and Sunday from 12-6 p.m. at Melissa Lichti’s house, 12389 N. Armstrong, Clovis. Students should bring any material they see fit for their class theme.

After the girls’ varsity girls played, I started watching the boys warming up. It was amazing to me how high I saw them jumping compared to me and the girls. This totally captures what I mean! Look at the height on that jump! Nice job, Jeremiah
